A Lesson from Grief

On my last day

I pray

those in my life

do not immediately think of my complaints, my problems, my strife

No, I pray

those in my life

are blessed by His light

the One who

shone through

in some things I do

Will they remember my joy?

Knowing I belong to the Lord

Will they remember my hope?

That which I clung to even in the darkest moment

Will they remember not I but He

For in death, life breathes

May more souls receive Jesus

on the day my time on earth ends,

that my loved ones will think not she leaves us

but that she is with their Lord and Savior, Immanuel … God with us

“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love” (Romans 5:5 NLT).

Today marks 29 years since the death of my mother. In my first book, a memoir of hope, I talk lots about loss even when my mom was still here. It’s been a slow writing process. I will keep you posted as I come to ask for beta readers 🙂

If you are in grief or been with grief for awhile, I pray God speaks to you through His word, through His teachers, and here in this poem.

If you need prayers, please email me at juliedibblespeaks@gmail.com

You are invited to join me at 3pm Eastern time today (Sunday December 20th) at https://Facebook.com/jdibble4Him. I will share a lesson from grief, read this poem and Psalm 16. These messages are hope-full and for the glory of the One who saves.

In His love,
