In the milieu
Amidst the birage
The constant stream
of ME
MY thoughts
MY opinions
MY criticisms
seeking MY minions
Who will believe and praise ME?
Have you encountered Christians like this?
Who don’t take breaths or breaks?
Who raise the stakes
On interrupting
Grace raining
In the background
Sometimes I struggle to hold my tongue
It is so not fun
I open my ears to listen
to the Spirit within
Jesus, my Rock, is where I stand, is what I hold
So I will not be shaken

Jesus tells us, “Behold. I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16, ESV).

God is showing me that I cannot assume because I am talking to a believer that we are free of the devil’s influence. I cannot assume our conversation will be respectful and one that will build us both up.
How will you respond if you are talking with someone who never lets you get a word in, or who accuses you of not being wise, or who would rather argue a point than come to a respectful agree to disagree?
I welcome your thoughts and questions. This life of faith is not promised to be easy, but that is not an excuse to remain where you are today. We are commanded to add to our faith, increasing its strength to prevent us from being ineffective or unproductive in our knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 1:5-15).

May we all run after Jesus today, being confident He is with us no matter what comes our way.
In Christ,
