A circle of light
Inside a shroud of fright
Dark shadowed clouds
Without a sound
They move to surround
To dampen hope
To snip that rope
The one anchoring us
Carrying us
Touching our cheeks
With tender mercy
Whispering the promise
He will never leave
Hope wins
Because Jesus took my shame and sin
Bearing the weight
Giving me new life, a clean slate
When darkness moves in
Claim out loud
To whom you belong
And it ain’t no dark cloud
Or demon or liar
We, you and I, belong to the One whose thoughts are Higher
Whose power is divine
Whose rhythms of breath and life
Are all around
Without a sound
Ants march with crumbs
A young man smiles as he remembers fun
Soft pink petals bloom
Robins hop about even though it seems too soon
Then,
more than we can possibly imagine
A breakthrough begins
Faith explodes in the heart
Of a 40 year old unbeliever, never taught from the start
A child counting years on a venitlator
Breathes without the machine, only by her Creator
What of these miracles?
His light, so bright, it’s painful
To our naked eye
His glory and angels up in heaven so high
Yet His light
Is power and life
Reaching every seeking soul
His presence … its essence
Makes you never want to let go

This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).
The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130)

Good afternoon, my dear poetry readers,
The photo in this post is mine. I took it while waiting to pick up my son from basketball practice yesterday. It got me thinking about the light of Jesus. Just like He never leaves, His light never leaves. Darkness does not have the last word on your life, friends. Jesus does, and He is the Light of the World.
Have a blessed rest of this weekend.
In Christ,
Julie

Oh, may I keep my heart lifted to receive and focus on His promise. My thoughts were turned toward the light this week also, dear Julie. He is so good to confirm HIS promise to us! Love and Blessings to you!
