Our Root

With Jesus as the Root

We are His first fruits

His first loves

Whom He knew while John baptized Him and God sent the doves

earth-doves

Yes Jesus knew of us

At the beginning

He knew He would die

So we could live forgiven

Our Prince of Peace

descends, surrounds

His gentle Spirit abounds

We live in His hands

His harvest, chosen not of His demands

We cannot help but sing for joy

Yes, Lord, we surrender envy,

Anything else unkind or unforbearing

Lord, we can hardly fathom

You will choose to use us in Your Kingdom

May the fruit we bear

Be true, fragrant, and protected by the devil’s snare

For we have heard his whispers

Believed his lies

It is only with Your mercy divine

We step out in faith

Covered by Your grace

And model for all how we seek Your face

I, Jesus, have sent my angels to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root. and the Offspring of David, and the bright morning star (Revelations 22:16).

  1. So beautiful, Amen! He is our root. These words touch me so deeply today:

    “Our Prince of Peace

    descends, surrounds

    His gentle Spirit abounds

    We live in His hands”

I am so thankful for His Spirit in us. Blessings & love to you tonight!
