Here it is again
Horizontal wind
Straightens the flapping flag
Stops the dog’s wag
Clears branches of their leaves
Breaks spider webs in the eaves
When His wind rolls
It’s just one direction it goes
Stones and twigs
Grass and any object no matter how big
Is supernaturally pushed
Along a path He once took
Jesus goes before
Abides with us evermore
He is preparing rooms for His adored
His unidirectional wind
Is another sign, yet again
Of His relentless pursuit
Jesus will chase and chase and chase you
His mysteries
His power
Those unexplained stories
That amazing hour
When you wake up and realize
Our God of the Universe has chosen you as His prize
Possession
Never once forgetting
Where you are, where you are going or where you’ve been
And if you need reminded,
He will send His horizontal wind again.

As I watched His powerful wind the other day, I felt He was near. Well, God is always near, Immanuel, God with us.
So what of this wind? It truly was blowing so hard in one direction, all leaves on the streets were swept in the same direction. They could not have strayed from the wind if they wanted to.
I thought, this is the power of God, right before my eyes! This is a glimpse of His relentless pursuit of His children, going after the one, the many, who need Him.
In 1 Kings when Elijah was the target of enemies, he has an encounter with God:
And the word of the Lord came to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. the Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”
The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came the fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave (1 Kings 19:1-13).
Let us not miss the wonders and signs of Our Mighty Lord. Let us lean in close after we witness such power (wind, fire, earthquake, tornado). Let us listen for His gentle whisper.
