Don’t Look Back

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:12-14).

Our past doesn’t last
As Christ grows our souls
Time is nothing
We have eternity living
In our very being

His Holy Spirit whispers
Breathes life into bitter
Guides the Way
Collects His people on the fray
Powerfully on time, never delay

We are never
Alone
We are forgiven, sins atoned
We are chosen
Every moment
Of our lives … spoken

Our souls broken
By His power
With purpose in each hour
Past collides with present
Healing, reeling

Nail each mistake through
To His Cross
Bearing our loss
For it is death which precedes life

Hope as our sail
As He lifts our veil
To see and believe
The future He has for you and me

It is hard, isn’t it? To truly let go of our own past and ways others hurt us in the past. Healing is Christ’s goal for us. He knows most of us do not wake up one day living free in Him, knowing our identity in Him. He has brought me through the deep waters of my past. Rescued me. Still, I have times where I have sorrow, where my soul is heavy with the loss of things I will never recover.

Jesus is with us. Jesus is for us. Jesus loves you and knows your pain.

  1. Beautiful Dear Sister. His mercy is so great over us. Just today I was looking back at my many mistakes through the years. But HE is so faithful and so merciful to mend and repair and to make all things work together for His good in our lives. Blessings and hugs to you!
