When I ask for forgiveness
It takes me at least twice
The first time through
Is what I would say to you
Skim the top of
The sin situation
Lord knows
But oh he wants us to grow
He wants us to lay it
And see the ugly in it
Set our flesh afire
With baptizing spirit and water
On the second time I come to Him
I bow my head
Lower
I say each chosen
Word
Describing the deed
Admitting my willful misleading
Though I am met with silence at first,
His grace touches the guilt on my face
His palms lift me to higher ground
Where holy things are found
I say
Help me Jesus
For I alone am weak
I may not hear Him speak
But He gives me that peace
Reassuring me the Cross is not on lease
I can come, rest
Whenever my heart says necessary
And when my heart says closer
I just need His breath on my broken

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9).
