We fear illness
We fear death and loneliness
But do we fear the Lord?
We fear large bills we can’t pay
We fear the darkness of night until the break of day
But do we fear the Lord?
We fear what others think
We fear what we may or may not have to eat and drink
But do we fear the Lord?
We fear when the earth quakes
We fear tics and snakes
But do we fear the Lord?

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer (Proverbs 9:10-12).
