Memorial days of the past
Meant getting beer and getting it fast
Sun shining
The one made by the Big bang
Skimpy clothes
Making sure I would go
Where sex and sin
Disguised as the win
Now in Christ
I pray for the families who lost a loved one in the fight
A foreign place
Killing others, filling with shame
Some wars made sense
Others’ cost for freedom, long spent
What will this Memorial Day be?
Time spent with my family
You see my husband served
That war in the Afghanistan desert
Now each day
His Son shines we say
Thank you God
For You are good
No matter what walls crash
Regardless of our sorted past
We serve Our Lord
Free to praise and free to walk forth
Without shame
Marching in the confidence of His name
Jesus, Our Living Son of Man
Who is Lord over all sea and land

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1).

Thank you, Jesus, for your death and resurrection which invite us into a life free from sin. Thank you to all who served, died and do currently serve in the United States Military protecting our freedom to vote, to pray, to be educated, to work, and many more things in this country.
Anyone who is in grief this weekend, please know I am praying for you. Your heart matters to Our Father in Heaven, speak to Him. You can read Scripture and speak to Him or just yell out, cry out, weep and be silent.
God is with us.
Thank you for being here and to all new followers.

In Christ,
Julie

Military has been part of me since childhood. I know at a personal level how it is like.
