Rising

valleypic

I stand in the valley
With ashes at my feet

ashes
My heart once broken now burned
Holy flames
Tamed
My past
Put it in its proper place at last
Letting die
All seen from the child’s eye

childsees
Hopeless, loveless
Barren, soul-less
For it is He
Who placed me in the valley
Lie down with Me
But
Why
Can’t see the reason
I would be drowning in depression
Yet
So sweet the embrace
Around my whole self
As You took the pain off its shelf
As if a jar of alabaster
Smashed it into pieces further
Then came the heat
The place where past and present meet

chinup
Your hand on my chin
Daughter, You said, let me in
Where I AM is where you begin

~~~
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim the good news to the poor
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of the vengeance of our God
to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor (Isaiah 61:1-3).
Maybe you too sense a rising within your heart, your soul. Letting go of past pain, allowing Him to walk you through the driest valley and the hottest fire only to find He wants you close to Him. After you allow Him to strengthen you, you find out He has plans to use you to speak and write to do whatever it is for His glory.
Hallelujah~may they be multiplied!
May these words be used to bring His sons and daughters home to where they belong, in His loving arms.
  1. Beautiful words, wonderful words of life. Hearing God whisper through scripture stirs many a noble theme. These are poets. Glad that we both acknowledge this commission. Baraka.
      1. I bear a vision that a day shall come when many creative minds such as poets shall realize their gift is part of the Great Commission&when they minister the Holy Spirit moves mightily.
