Childhood Loss Turns to Gain

Sometimes as a kid I wanted to disappear
Into the bushes, the clearing there
Crawling in, dirtying my knees
Imagine sailing the seas
Or maybe decide I am an author
Writing and illustrating books, always pushing myself further

Bzzz Bzzz

In this place
the bees would be

Loneliness stings
It brings
A hollow song
An empty heart’s longing
Alone was a gift and a curse
What I needed was a place of belonging

If I went back to those bushes now
I would bring seeds to sow
Ones of life and hope

Praying while I dug the earth
That the next girl hiding, dreaming of running away
Would know before her birth
She is loved, so loved
By Jesus, Lord and Savior of ALL
The answer for all lonely souls who search

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20).

It is such a comfort, isn’t it? To know Jesus never leaves. It has been a powerful healing for me to go back to times in my life when I didn’t know Him and was scared … to be warmed in the present by knowing He was there.

I pray your heart is open to receiving all Jesus has to give you in this given life.

Have a wonder-full beginning to this new week.

In Christ,

Julie

      1. She is back home, but she needs round the clock care now. The family is talking with her about full time care options. She is still in pain from the broken bones and osteoporosis in her back and she is on oxygen now. Thank you for praying for her.

  1. Oh yes, Praise Him for the comfort He brings, even as we remember those lonely and hurtful places of our past. What a precious prayer for those still alone, not knowing of His care for them yet!

  2. So precious how He’s taken you back to rewrite each memory in the truth of His loving presence and how you are giving that back to Him in a prayer of thanksgiving and blessing for others. Praise HIM! Our great Redeemer restores every single part of our story to His glory!

    1. Joining you in praise dear Anna! This surprised me. I hadn’t thought about that in many, many years. He led me there (I suspect) because I am healed, restored, in a place I can give back. I agree, it is precious. Love, Julie
