Eyes Tell

walkwoman

The pain in my shoulder from being older
Jags and nags
The lack of sleep leaving bags
of deep size

tiredeyes
Beneath my eyes
They don’t lie
The great window to my soul
In years past
Anger flashed
From my pupils
Corneas glazed
In an alcohol haze
Then so many years
I looked down
Broken, forlorn
Not wanting anyone to catch a glimpse
Of the sorry wimp
Alas, Seasons of pride
Eyes sailed high
Vying for attention
Belonging, recognition

eyemask

Now I would have to ask you
What my eyes do
What do you see?
I pray it is Christ in me

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”

But we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:14-15).
