Just for Today

It’s almost like Fall is breezing by
The bluest sky still
While the wind rushed in
Leaving the dead to lie

Bare bones
Confused and alone
Next to bountiful green
Seeming
Blessed with life
In spite of the brewing freeze

All things though are different
When seen in His light
Imagining His angels singing
Holy holy holy
Knowing He is forever sowing
New to come
As His will be done
On this ground we call earth
And in Heaven where all souls praise Him for the amazing, anticipated Birth

Before I went in
He sent a monarch butterfly my way
So regal and brave
Opening her delicate wings
As His air carried her higher
Out of reach for my camera
Oh but I must preach His goodness
In letting me witness
His miracle
In flight
Her joy and abandon,
Her butterfly passion

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Be merciful to those who doubt, save others by snatching them from the fire, to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh (Jude 1:20-23).

If we just focus on today, we can do all things in Christ Jesus. If we get ahead of ourselves and Him, we will falter in our own lives or be a stumbling block to someone else.

Let us listen for His Word in season to spread our wings, revealing beauty that can only reflect Him.

In Christ,

Julie

  1. Oh Julie, such a precious poem, and promise from the Lord. And I am praying for the Lord to bring this home to me even more: “If we just focus on today, we can do all things in Christ Jesus. If we get ahead of ourselves and Him, we will falter in our own lives or be a stumbling block to someone else.” Amen.
