The Depression Condition

The gray in the air
Is the fray on my soul
Plain truth
Pain lives
Dripping like a sieve
Into the light
Raindrops of dread
Competing with His delight

What if
Love and gloom
Partner in doom
And glory?
Who can be happy,
Display continual joy?

Yes, Jesus,
Stronger than any thoughts drowning us
Always present
Our blessed assurance
Our legs are faith
Feelings need to wait
Push forth toward the finish
Praying for zero blemish
To His name
Why though do I deny
There is no shame
In we who believe
I tune into
The whispers, the truth

Choose joy
No matter how subtle
Relinquish the decoy

Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame (Isaiah 50:7).
