In our minds we take offense
To nature’s very defense
The drink of life
Rain-sheets
Sprinkles meet
Every flower and weed
Incredibly thirsty
in their journey
We hide, take cover
Wonder when again His sun will hover
Drying the dampness
We deem trouble
Have you ever walked in the rain?
Been privy to the awakening?
I spied a wren
Hop silently through the brush
Calling to others
Once he stopped
“Over here, guys,
The bath we craved –
God made a way!”
Each puddle a water source
For ants, cats, a wild horse
And there are millions of plants
relying on His water and light
Behold the mystery of new life
who will emerge searching for nourishment
We as babies come out of a womb
Knowing water as our only room
Embedded in our making,
The desperate need for His living rain

Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water’ (John 4:10).
If you are not familiar with the story of Jesus and the woman at the well, I recommend you read the entire passage. John 4:1-26.
