A Slow Drum

Not too far on my walk
I heard a slow-paced knock
Scanning the street, neighbors’ yards
Suddenly, I realized the sound
Could not be found
Laterally near or far
There above
An upside-down woodpecker snug
Onto the limb

woodpecker
Drum, drum, drum
Elated, I wished
For the proficient pic
Professionally done
Detailing his plume in the early morning sun
A holy reminder: use the phone such
In everything, give thanks much

woodpeckerdone
Stunned by its lazy pecking pace
Until now, I imagined a woodpecker frantic …
Its noise echoing all over the place
But perhaps then I would’ve closed my ears, walking ahead
Instead
This gift,
One of His nature enigmas,
Lifted my eyes to Him

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of Him (1 John 5: 14-15).

Welcome! If you must know, this was first ever woodpecker I ever saw in its natural environment. Though I did not pray specifically about this matter, every time I would hear a woodpecker in the distance, I would try to locate the bird. Our God who knows all things, including our hearts, blesses us according to His will.

I am thankful for this experience and for the words to describe the moments.

Tune in at 7pm Eastern time for tonight’s guided meditation https://Facebook.com/jdibble4Him

Have a blessed Monday.

In Christ,

Julie
